Q

Do you need a back up singer...lol

Color Theory responded on 06/03/2013
A

I'm good for now, but I do like mixing it up in the backing vocals department, especially if I can cross-promote with a guest artist.

No, but I've done songs with Native Instruments. Ha! A little music producer humor there.

Q

Why Color theory? Are you interested in Art? Do you paint or do you just paint pictures with music?

Color Theory responded on 04/13/2013
A

You'd think right? ;) I wish I had a better answer for you, but the reality is, a friend of mine was in design school and taking a class called Color Theory 101, and I thought it sounded cool, probably because in my mind, "101" = "Depeche Mode".

Q

How do you approach and ascertain the color of someone?
When you do a video or music do you hear the music and find the color? Or do you think of the color and find the music?

Color Theory responded on 04/08/2013
A

Despite the name of my recording project, I'm a literal guy, and don't think in those terms when making music. I used to associate certain songs with certain colors when I was growing up, but getting my degree in music expanded my vocabulary to allow me to describe sound, musical or otherwise, more precisely.

Q

How have you utilized your music degree in your music? Like what techniques or general classes helped the most? Theory?...

Color Theory responded on 04/02/2013
A

Honestly, I don't think the degree helped at all. I already had enough theory background going in, and I don't perform, so the countless hours of rehearsal and performance haven't come in handy. That said, I had a fantastic piano teacher, and that's where I put in my 10,000 hours to really learn the instrument.
